1950 - The credit card
The first credit card was made out of cardboard and looked like the credit card from the picture. They were first used in 1950 in 27 New York restaurants, called Diners Club. This invention was a big impact for the average American and after one year, 20,000 Americans owned a cardboard credit card.

1951 - The super glue
The super glue is an invention from 1951 and was invented by Harry Coover and Fred Joyner. They were researchers at Eastman-Kodak and were trying to develop a new plastic for the war and they accidentally invented the super glue.
In 1958, the super glue was first sold over a commercial. During the 1960s the super glue was used as another helpful material in the war. The super glue was used in the battlefield to close the wounds of the many veterans and it was produced as a spray.

1954 - McDonald's
The first McDonald's was opened in San Bernadino, California by Ray Kroc. He opened the restaurant with a limited menu, which helped them to focus on quality. After a successful year, Ray Kroc created the McDonald's Corporation and franchising got possible.
McDonald's was a quality restaurant and in 1958 McDonald's sold their 100 millionth Hamburger.

1955 - The Hovercraft
Another significant invention for the war effort was the Hovercraft, which is a vehicle that is supported by a cushion of air supplied with a power fan mounted on the craft. It was invented by Christopher Cockerell in 1955.
1958 - The Microchip
Jack Kilby
The microchip was invented by two inventors in 1958 but that did not work together. The one inventor, Jack Kilby, was working for Texas Instruments and was supposed to invent a smaller and newer electrical circuit.
Robert Noyce, who was the other inventor of the microchip developed the microchip a half a year later that Jack Kilby but with the same idea.
The microchip today is an important product to help to save a lot of files on one single and small chip. Today, a lot of people own their own microchip for their work.
